New Tech Buys

Posted at 10:38 pm under Technology

About two weeks ago, I purchased one of the better gadgets I have bought in awhile.  It is a Western Digital Network Hard Drive.  This nifty little bugger plugs right into my wireless router and is network addressable, providing everyone on the network with easy access to 250GB of external storage!  It is a great device for shared storage of music and photos….and it also is an excellent resource for performing quick and easy backup of data files on our various computers.  I like it because one little unit provides a quick, easy way to backup all of the computers on our home network.  With each of the kid’s, Karen’s and my computers, plus the laptop….we have 5 computers linked up to a wireless network.  Now I have 5 folders on the NetCenter storage device for backups….plus folders for photos and videos.  You can buy them in other sizes (like 160GB, 320GB and 500GB), and they are not overly expensive ( I paid a lot less than the $249 MSRP) as compared to buying just a hard drive alone, or alternatively, having to build up a separate server system with hard drives.  A very geeky buy indeed!
