UPDATE 10/13:Â Click HERE for Video HighlightsÂ
The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Atlantic Division leading New York Rangers 6-5 in their first road game of the season at the New York Garden tonight. This very exciting and close game was won on a goal by Sidney Crosby with just 3.3 seconds left in regulation. Crosby had a fantastic night, notching a goal and three assists for four points. Neither team ever led the game by more than one goal. Scoreless after one period, both teams scored three times in the second to tie it up 3-3 going into the third. In the third, the Rangers added two more and the Penguins another three, including the game winner by Crosby. Ryan Whitney had two goals for the Penguins (first career 2-goal game) and Jordan Staal and Kris LeTang both scored their first NHL goals tonight. The Penguins Power Play was on fire, converting on 4 of 9 chances, including the game winner. All in all a great game! The Penguins are now 2-1-0 and are off to a very encouraging start of the season.Â
Rags eh? Love how the diff conferences have diff names for the teams
Is there another matchup between my Wings and your Pens?
Mr Papa
Steve, I think that was the only regular season matchup with Detroit and Pittsburgh this year. Not a lot of inter-conference play under the new system.
