Where is Winter?

It is now the evening of the 17th of January and we have yet to see a hint of snow in the forecast here in the DC area.  In fact, we have seen a premature bloom of cherry blossoms and our daffodils are about 3″ out of the ground.  This past weekend we spent outdoors in T-shirts and the weekend before in shorts.  I feel like we never left Florida!  But starting yesterday, the temperatures started to finally drop.  By this morning, it was a cool 22 degrees.  Tomorrow evening, the forecast calls for a chance of some snow flurries!  The kids are excited as they haven’t seen snow in a few years. 

The change in the weather must have wreaked havoc with my body as I awoke this morning with a terrible migraine.  Ben also had a very bad headache and stayed home with me.  We both slept until 11:30 and felt a bit better when we awoke, although I still have a pretty bothersome headache.  I am hoping it will go away completely by morning.  That is usually the course with my migraine’s…they never usually last more than a day. 

Karen got called in to substituted teach yesterday and today.  She had the same third grade class both days and really enjoyed the class.  As suspected, now that they have her correctly on the list, she has been getting a lot of requests for substituting.  It works out real good with the kids being in the same school as she can take them with her in the morning and bring them home at the end of the day.  The kids also like having her there during the day.  Next week I travel to San Diego for meetings. 

Well, I am going to go rest my head.  I haven’t spent any time on the computer today (except to write this quick post) as it is the LAST thing you want to do when you have a migraine.  It was also very bright and sunny out today, so I kept the house shades drawn as the bright light seems to intensify the headache.  Bottom line, Ben and I stayed at home and did pretty much nothing…..we didn’t even watch TV.
