Tobin Family Website

It has been a long while since I have made a post here at theTobins.org.  I have been extremely busy at work and any free blogging time has been consumed by the hockey blog I run at http://NHLPens.com.  As I type, I am sitting in the airport waiting to get on a flight to San Diego.  A couple weeks ago, I undertook a plan to update the theme here at this site, but I haven’t had time to complete it yet.  Hopefully between now and the upcoming holidays, I will get it completed!  I want to make the site a little cleaner and fresher looking.  We’ll see if I am successful in making it better!

This week will be spent in San Diego…Rancho Bernardo to be exact.  If the name sounds familiar, it has been in the news lately as it was hit hard by the wildfires.  I travel there about once a month and this will be my first trip since the fires.  I was supposed to be there last week, but we rescheduled it due to the crises in the area. 

The kids are fortunate enough to have a 4-day weekend this weekend.  Unfortunately, I will be gone for most of it.  In fact, yesterday (Saturday), I was at work for about 7 hours working through issues and trying to get some work done before I go on my trip. 

On Friday night we were able to catch a hockey game in downtown DC.  We were able to get some discounted tickets through the school safety program, as Ben is on the Safety Patrol.  It was fun, but the local team lost.  They were playing the Philadelphia Flyers (who won).  We weren’t too disappointed as we used to be Flyers fans….but it is sometimes more fun when the local team is winning, since the crowd gets more involved.  It was fun nonetheless. 

Well, I had better dash…my plane is supposed to lift off in 10 minutes and the gate agent finally showed up to let us on the plane!
